It’s only been two years since Google Analytics 4 (GA4) came out to market and Google, in 2022 , has already announced the disappearance of Universal Analytics by July 2023. Why? GA4 is the evolution of Universal Analytics and a free data analysis tool for your company from a single place and allows you to make better informed decisions. Its purpose remains the same as UA, but there are modifications to GA4’s interface and functionality.

 

Why is it important that you already have Google Analytics 4 installed?

If you are reading this blog and you don’t have GA4 installed, we are sorry to tell you that you are late. Universal Analytics will cease to be operational on July 1, 2023, but don’t panic because you will be able to access your history for six months. 

In addition, there are also some advantages of GA4 over Universal Analytics to take into account.

Main differences and features: UA vs GA4

As you may already know Universal Analytics is the old version of GA4, so there are some features that differentiate them:

 

  • The new interface and functionality.

GA4 has the ability to visualize site data from multiple properties at once in a single report and know how users interact with each part of the website or application over time. This makes it easier to understand how different parts of the user’s digital presence are performing individually or together.

 

  • Flexibility and metrics.

You will be able to access exclusive statistics and leverage GA4 technology to get the most out of your data. GA4 gains in flexibility over UA: it allows you to track user behavior across multiple platforms such as mobile devices, computers, tablets and laptops. Get it all within a unified platform instead of having different tools for each type of device.

 

  • Engagement.

Allows you to measure the degree of engagement or interaction with users in a more advanced way.

 

  • Measurement.

It is now possible to measure the results of personalized events in a simple and effective way.

 

  • Data analysis.

GA4 allows you to offer greater options for exploring and analyzing data, user behavior in the digital environment, etc.
